Shall Ark – Lightly Come, Lightly Go EP (BUSTED10)

busted10Euphoric, intricate and compelling, the Lightly Come, Lightly Go EP on Cold Busted from Shall Ark displays a palette of electronic sounds, instruments and down tempo beats.  From a young age, Naoki Pascal Morita a.k.a. Shall Ark of Tokyo, Japan studied music composition and was a recording studio assistant then moved to L.A. at the age of 20.  There he became an apprentice for a renowned R&B / Pop producer, is influenced by his clubbing experiences in both Tokyo and L.A and has four other previous releases.  Starting off the album is ‘Du Aber Daniel Gehe Hin 1767’ capturing the listener with classical music elements and street style zest. In it, playful vinyl scratching and soothing wood instrument and flute sounds are cleverly arranged over engaging drums.  Following is ‘Lightly Come, Lightly Go’ a piece with spellbinding flute and Theremin sounds, pulsating bass and chill beats with subtle high hats.  ‘A Friend In Need Is A Friend Indeed’ slows the pace to a thoughtful lounge with down tempo drums, eerie and beautiful acoustic and horn riffs, full sub bass and interesting details.  Last, ‘Deeds, Not Words’ begins on an introspective beat and showcases a bright melodic synth and wistful flute. “Bound to mesmerize people with his complex mixture of electronic sounds” Shall Ark, a notably merited and inspirational musician has created in this 4 track EP an enjoyable listening experience.
