Stone Cold Busted 1 is an eclectic compilation of tracks featuring current and new artists signed to Cold Busted and includes a 63 minute bonus DJ mix done by Vitamin D.   With over 20 different artists and a variety of styles and sounds, the compilation and DJ mix are ear perking treats.  Artists that have released on Cold Busted such as JK Soul, Gramatik, and Green Street showcase fresh tracks along with new comers such as The Soul Pilot, Native, Paul Schulleri and more.  The mix starts out smooth with Trip Hop and soulful, funky beats like ‘New Generation’ by Gramatik and Brale with clean and subtle cuts and scratches throughout the mix.  The feel good vibe continues with a notable mix into Belle’s gorgeous vocals and beats with the track ‘Delicious Delicacies’.  More mellifluous tunes are presented such as ‘Radio Trauma’ by Sixfingerz as well as playful and grooving tunes like Electric Booty Call’s ‘Mystic Bang’ mixed flawlessly into the hilarious and funky ‘Organic Caterpillars’ by Dogfight.  The second half of the mix explores more minimal and experimental beats, IDM, Downtempo and Jazzy flavors with crunchy beats and live instruments such as ‘Still Alive’ by the Great Red Shark, ‘A Moment’ by Extraordinary and ‘Green Glass Jazz’ by CHD Vs. Green Street – Highway 1 (BUSTED16)

The collaboration of M80 and High Jack that is Green Street, introduce their first release on Cold Busted ‘Highway 1’, a mellifluous and passionate Trip Hop album channeling classic soul with the finesse of uplifting Hip Hop, Jazz and EDM.   Beginning is ‘Cruz Control’, with sounds of an engine starting and a funky mellow vibe ushered by inviting beats, setting the tone for a promising ride.  Tracks like ‘Ground Up’ deliver the soul with organ keyboard riffs, melodies and scales, clever saxophone and fuzzy synths in witty arrangements.  ‘Phazed Out’ displays riveting melodies tastefully looped and beat repeated, in a flowing rhythmic manner with piano, trumpet, flute and hip hop samples eloquently layered over vivacious drums.  Following, ‘Cee Joy’ uses playful filtering, chopped samples, and prominent drums creating an intelligent and soulfully seductive tune.  Track 10 ‘Supa Soul’ starts off with head nodding kick drums, reoccurring pianos and syncopated rhythms, sounding like a warm homecoming celebration.  ‘The Heat of Da Night’ is tepid liveliness with vivid soundscapes of strings, piano and funky bongos as well as a spray can sample collectively creating a lush street soul sound.  Charismatic, rich in sounds and classic soul influenced ‘Highway 1’ from Green Street is a creative and well executed tranquil 14 track LP good for a road trip and listen anywhere anytime.
