Boris Blenn from Berlin releases a Nu Jazz Downtempo full-length album, ‘Berlin Future Lounge’ on Cold Busted. Starting off with the track ‘Mellow’ the listener is absorbed by the chill instrumental Hip Hop beats and lustrous warm and soothing synths.  ‘Grain’ displays more minimal palpitations and clicks while the song ‘Funkazoid’ showcases active beats, wonky synths, funky breaks and an insane drum solo.  Following is ‘Jazzaloid’ a feel good House tune with lush diva vocals bee bopping and accentuating the rhythm and brightness with melodic keys adding a nice touch.  ‘Sunshine’ is warm and calming with dazzling notes and organ keys and a caressing snappy snare, definitely capturing a pleasurable feeling of sun on your skin.  ‘Dream’ is another tranquil song with a happy hi hat, organic sounding Bass and emotive piano keys.  Ending on a Jazzy note, ‘Still’ wraps things up with a moody Bass, free loving drums and a smooth male vocalist, all details earnest and charming.  A seasoned producer with a colorful background, Boris Blenn delivers with this 14-track album, a fruitful and joyful collection of sounds.  Fans of Prefuse73, Pole, Mark Farina and Gotan Project will likely dig this album.

Milyoo – Themework EP (BUSTED23)

Ethereal, melodic and engaging, the Themework EP from Milyoo features pulsating and pretty Electronic music, Downtempo, IDM and Dubstep interwoven with R&B touches.  This EP along with past releases on Opit, airplay on Electronic Explorations and BBC Radio 1 substantiates Milyoo as a producer with an uncanny and experimental sense for sounds and rhythm.  ‘Blueskies’ at about 105 BPM is prominent by the wistful piano notes, acid high synths and moving beat and kick drum, with wispy vocals and chimes, compelling and clean.  ‘Remember’ featuring Erin McAnallen has breathy ambient soundscapes with a delicate pleasing snare, and a kaleidoscope of electronic sounds, reverberating warmly with female vocal snippets and overtones.  ‘It Feels’ progresses and crescendos in experimental builds and laid back rhythms with meaty drops, drums, soulful repeats and glitches, stepping and soaring at 70 BPM. ‘Themework’ closes out the four track EP with dreamy synths, active percussions, and rumbling sub bass with bleeps and acid lines, funky and choir vocal chops, slowing to a graceful finish.  Fans of Burial, Joker, Luke Vibert or Joy Orbison will likely enjoy.

Ilya Mosolov – Touch My Soul (BUSTED19)

Ilya Mosolov releases his second full length on Cold Busted called ‘Touch My Soul’ a mesmerizing Breakbeat album with lush melodies, instruments and electronic sounds.  ‘Learn To Do Miracles’ begins with a light piano riff, warm soundscapes and drops in with beats at around 120 BPM, progresses, flows and ends beautifully.  ‘Lights of Paradise’ sails in with bright synths, bleeps and upbeat drums with subtle glitching effects and a posh melody.  Following is ‘Volga’ with warm strings, and playful beats dropping into acoustic bars and positive notes, the guitar compelling and fresh, the electronic resonance sweet.  ‘Tlaloc’ features active acid basslines and wonky melodies, the beats progressive yet gentle with layers of light bongo drums and piano notes giving more life to the tune.  ‘Raindrops’ splatters in with high synths, piano scales and notes, with a gratifying upbeat rhythm, light snare hits and slightly distorted mid and sub bass humming for a full sound.  ‘Salamander’ switches gears into broken beats and erupts into faster Jungle break beats and amen breaks at around 175 BPM with a light sub bass pulsing, soundscapes and airy synths.  True to his background in classical symphonic music and love for electronic music the album reflects Ilya’s influences and innovation.  ‘Touch My Soul’ is uplifting, sincere and features loungey and melodic Breakbeat music of different shades with keen composition and effects.
