Mojo’s musical journey began, like so many others, as a child – performing on wind instruments in symphonic and jazz bands. As he grew, these early influences became interwoven with a variety of other styles – classic rock, new wave, hip hop, funk and industrial. The desire to actually create music was seeded in high school when introduced to MIDI, synthesis and sampling. Then, in the early 90s, Mojo discovered the emerging underground electronic music culture and began DJing in the robust underground scene of Los Angeles, spinning everything from techno to house to drum & bass as well as breakbeats and trip-hop. His eclectic tastes translated well as a DJ and shine through in his production work. An avid collector of vinyl and music of many genres, Mojo prides himself on his musical knowledge, but is always hungry to discover more. Taking a hiatus from live gigs in the early 2000s, Mojo successfully pursued a Computer Science degree coupled with a minor in Recording Arts, which re-engaged him with his aspiration to create music of his own. While dropping mixes in a variety of styles is still on the agenda, Mojo Rising is now primarily focused on production and remix work.
