80s Casual
Malaga, Spain
80s casual is a guy named Simon Bathie
After releasing his first record in 1990 back in the days of outdoor raves, has gone on to produce under many guises, from breakbeat to drum and bass, rock and of course house music in all its flavors. Originally from Hertfordshire in England, now residing in southern Spain for the last 3 years. 80s casual came about with my love for funk soul, jazz and hip hop and reggae. I wanted to do an album that had all these influences and appealed to a wider audience than just the dance floor. 80s casual still does remixes under his other name of Idiotbox and has worked with many names within the house industry.
He states the reason for writing music down to the one and only Kurtis Mantronix. After hearing his first album, I was hooked.the beats the splicing ,it was genius, and still sound fresh today. I used to save my school dinner money to buy his records lol.
Simon also djs and you can catch him in London,Madrid or southern Spain or Europe.

Amerigo Gazaway
Tennessee
Amerigo Gazaway is a Nashville based MC, turntablist, and hip-hop producer. Son of renowned trumpet player Gary “El Buho” Gazaway (Phish, STS9, Tito Puente), Amerigo specializes in his own brand of laid-back soulful hip-hop for the modern music enthusiast. His influences range from a wide variety of producers such as DJ Premier, Pete Rock, and Jay Dilla to more experimental artists such as DJ Shadow, RJD2 and Blockhead. He also draws much of his inspiration from greats such as Herbie Hancock, Quincy Jones and Isaac Hayes.
Like the great explorer for which he is named after, Amerigo has always been fascinated by the unknown. To him, life is all about discovery. Through sampling, he explores the world of sound, literately taking listeners along with him on his musical journey through time and space. Combining everything from ethnic instruments to vintage synths, soulful vocals to oldschool video game soundtracks – Amerigo transcends genre altogether while at the same time offering something for everyone to enjoy. And when he isn’t busy DJing or digging through dollar bins in search of that perfect sound, he is probably either playing some kind of instrument or recording the lyrics to his latest hip hop track.
Oh yeah, he’s also been known to rock a red keytar from time to time.

Bahia Deluxe
Mallorca
Bahia Deluxe is a one man band leaded by Jasper Zein. He was born in Belgium, were his parents immigrated from Germany in the 70’s.
Since 2003 Jasper’s home base is the beautiful island Mallorca, one of Spain’s Balearic Islands close to Ibiza.
He started making music when he was 16. A friend of his dad (Georg Grisloff: Pension Winnetou, Sol Electrico,..) had a studio where he could play around in school holidays.
Not much later he bought a sampler and got an Atari ST so he could make beats at home.
In the beginning only hip hop but not much later he started going out to clubs and dance festivals so his music taste changed to all kinds of electronic dance music.
Listening to old school hip hop & dance music, and living on an island surrounded by white beaches, sunsets, mountains and great people resulted in the sound of Bahia Deluxe.

DJ Buzzword
Bridgnorth
DJ Buzzword is a DJ and Producer who hails from Bridgnorth in Shropshire, a large county in middle England not known for it’s wealth of musical talent. In his early teens he bought a guitar but after some time and many lessons, realised he still didn’t know what the hell he was doing. After falling out of love with the guitar he heard a couple of hip hop records and decided the next move was to invest in some turntables for his 17th birthday. Now he was on the right track. After becoming fairly proficient on his new toys he was given some music making software which immediately fascinated him. Very interested in the art of sampling he began creating tracks by compiling snippets of his parents record collection with whatever goodies he could find in the local charity shops. From this starting point he has come a long way and although sampling still plays a big part in his music, he has found more and more ways to lay down the sounds that he likes to hear.

Dpek
Slovenia
Dpek doesn’t want to be a musician, but he needs food, shelter and money and producing chilled out bangers is all that he’s capable of doing. Well ok, beside producing he is also an MC and beatboxer and sometimes DJ, rarely pianist, even rarely b-boy and almost never singer, even though he really doesn’t want to be a musician and is a lot happier listening to his tunes than working on them – but sometimes he just feels “the urge” … who am I kidding, every-day addiction to bleeps, clacks, strange hi-hats, old instruments from dusty records, hip hop’s golden-age hard drums, lush synths and sampling errors that sound good. Gotta keep this guy away from machines!
.
Gramatik
Slovenia
Good music is felt not heard. Gramatik apparently understood that at an age of 3 according to his mother as she used to catch him glued to the radio in his older sister’s room whenever there was an old funk or rhythm & blues joint on, tapping his leg on the floor along with the beat. Damn, talking about a sign on what will your child do when he grows up!
Parents got him taking piano lessons in the elementary music school when he was in 2nd grade, but he dropped out 2 years later because he wasn’t feeling that whole classical music thing as that was the only genre they were teaching. He later got some private piano lessons, learning the stuff he wanted to learn to play like Beatles and Rhythm & Blues in general. He and a few of his 4th grade classmates formed a band and became the youngest band in the history of his elementary school, playing school events on the regular. When he got to 7th grade he discovered Hip-Hop and felt totally overtaken and compelled by it’s elements, especialy by the power of the rhythmically accented poetry(RAP). He soon left the band, started writing and became an MC. His friends were amazed by his flow and delivery since there were no hip-hop artists in his home town Piran(Slovenia) at the time, except him and one of his classmates and they were dope on top of it! They formed a duo called Bow Down and threw the first hip-hop party in the history of their home town. In 1998, Gramatik met his first audio sequencing software on the computer of his classmate’s older brother and felt like he got strucked by lightening, totally overwhelmed by it! His parents were finantially struggling at the time, so they couldn’t afford a computer, so he was hanging out at his friend’s house all the time, messing around with the sequencer when his older brother wasn’t home. 2 years later his parents bought him a computer and the first thing he did was install that audio sequencer! He started producing his first beats and day by day felt more and more compelled by the craft & the magic of it. It wasn’t long untill he discovered sampling which became his one true love in the music making process, chopping up all those old funk, soul, blues and jazz tracks he used to listen to all the time and making something completely new out of it was the best feeling ever. All of a sudden his life started to make perfect sense.
In 2006, he and 2 of his friends, fellow MC’s, released their debut hip-hop album as a group called 5th Element, which was critically acclaimed throughout the country as one of the best hip-hop albums in Slovenia. After the album, Gramatik felt hip-hop just wasn’t enough, that he was limiting himself with doing only one genre while he enjoyed listening to so many of them so he started producing House, Techno, Breakbeat, Electro, Drum’n'Bass, basically any genre that he liked which was anything that evolved from Blues, Jazz, Soul and Funk, as those ”father genres” were all embedded deep in his style, whatever he would do. He realized that to him, music is much bigger than a genre name and their specific categorization, it’s all about embracing what moves you and rejecting what doesn’t. He released his first ever track on Beatport.com in june 2008, which was an Electro House track, a remix he did for DJ Vitamin D’s track entitled Motherfuckers Know Whos The Best. The track ended up #24 on the Electro House Top 100 chart, a nice surprise and an excellent quality validation for this newcommer. Soon after that he ended up on #40 of the House Top 100 chart with his tribal banger Letz Get Ill while his Dreams About Her EP topped the Chil Out top 100 chart for 3 weeks. He kept releasing different stuff on various labels all owned by DJ Vitamin D which he became good friends with. Not long after his first release stroke the chart, Vitamin D suggests to him that he should scrap up those 20 hip-hop beatz he had sitting in a flash player on his myspace for over 2 years and release them as an album on the new Chill Out/Trip-Hop/Instrumental Hip-Hop label he’s about to open inspired by those same beatz he was listening to. So Gramatik does that(thinking he won’t sell more than 3 tracks off the album since they were just 2:30 minuets long hip-hop beatz, which are not commonly sold on beatport) and the album he entitled Street Bangerz Vol.1 get’s released in december 2008 on the fresh new label Cold Busted. little did he know that the album was gonna catapult straight to the #1 spot on the Top 100 Chill Out chart and has been holding hostage the first 20 spots ever since. Street Bangerz Vol.1 has been a total success, completely unexpected, selling over 27.000 tracks world wide in less than 6 months on beatport alone. It made him realize that quite often, the things that you expect to work the least, usually work the most. Gramatik is now working on various projects while determined to keep up the SB series, dropping one a year, perfecting them volume after volume and hopefully tour the world in due time.

Mitch Walcott
Michigan
Hypervigilant, perfectionist, and empathic are words Mitch Walcott chooses to describe himself. Clinically diagnosed with OCD in 2003, he has a different outlook on life and music than when he started making tracks in 1994.
His first big break came in 2001 when Carl Craig selected him to open up the Sunday set on the Underground Stage at the Detroit Electronic Music Festival (DEMF).
After his debut performance, Mitch submitted some demos to Jeff Mills (Axis Records). In April 2002, Jeff Mills released Walcott’s debut album “Europa” on his sub-label, Tomorrow.
Around the same time, Mitch also helped co-invent an analog synthesizer for the German manufacturer, Vermona. The result was the PerFourMer and it has been globally available for purchase since late 2002.
“Titan” was the next project that Mitch produced in 2003. It was briefly available as a free MP3 download from his web site, but then the tracks lay somewhat dormant for nearly four years. Already being friends with Dimitri Pike for a few years, Walcott thought that it only made sense for “Titan” to be released for free on Wildub in 2007.
Feeling burned out from live performances, Mitch stopped performing in December of 2005. Since then, he has created a 5.1 surround sound studio in his basement. He has researched and purchased various pieces of MIDI and audio software in an attempt to break free of bad compositional habits.
Walcott now mostly spends time thinking about building analog synthesizers and moving out to New Mexico (near the Very Large Array) in an attempt to get away from the mental distractions he faces daily in Michigan.

Paul Schulleri
Berlin
Paul started to play the piano at the age of six, he has always been attracted by modern technology and deeply fascinated by everything related to technological development and science. The music’s foundation achieved with the piano was followed by a vivid interest for Jazz Music, which brought, in his life, a mixture of new elements of an unknown world to be discovered and shared.
Inspired to create his own sound, he moved his first step to produce electronic music with a very basic set-up, consisting of an Atari computer and a mono synthesizer. Tens of tracks, from Trip-Hop to Drum and Bass, came to life in a flowing and elegant production, leading him to write and perform for Theater’s acts and giving him the chance to build up a strong reputation as an innovative music creator.
Moving to Berlin to study sound engineering exposed him to the surreal world of Minimal Music, opening a new fundamental chapter in his career. Deeply influenced by this captivating genre, Paul began to produce a variety of Ambient and Minimal tracks, often performed with software and hardware instruments coded and built up, by himself, in his own growing recording studio and laboratory.
The last five years have seen Paul increasingly more involved in his career, performing live in several clubs, festivals and events like Aqua | Berlin, PHB | Berlin, Villa | Berlin, Primary Colours Festival | Berlin and Elektromagnet Rolltor | Warstein, Spreekader: Jenseits von Gut & Böse | Berlin to name a few and producing several tracks and remixes released on many record label across Europe.

Pstgrd
California
Rodney Aguilera, who goes by the production moniker “pstgrd”, has been a music enthusiast since as far as he can remember. First being exposed to disco, funk, and soul records from his father’s record collection, and later listening to and becoming a fan of electronic, r&b, and hip-hop music.
He took his love of music and began DJing in the mid 90’s, as a member of one of San Diego’s prominent DJ crews (3-Style Attractions/ZXR), performing at various underground parties and club venues.
While still DJing on occasion, he has now turned his focus on production. Growing up during the “Golden Era” of hip-hop, he sites groups such as A Tribe Called Quest and producers such as DJ Premier, Pete Rock, and J Dilla as heavy influences. Also a fan of some of the electronic music acts during the same era, he sites Orbital, FSoL, Aphex Twin, The Orb and the artists and music from old record labels such Moving Shadow, Suburban Base, and FFRR as inspiration for his music as well.
“I want my music to exude a sense of soul and to have an undeniable groove…they won’t always be musical masterpieces, but if my music makes your head bob, dance, or makes your neck snap, then I’ve accomplished what I set off to do.”

Unwilling to choose the darker paths as an alternative job, although they do seem a lot more attractive, they chose to optimistically embark on creating something that is both new and entertaining. Thus, a sleek, new project is born. The name is “SEGO”, or rice, in the Javanese language.
Both hailed from two very distinct musical backgrounds, each with his own very extensive repertoire. Based on Techno and House music as their primary element, they have successfully incorporated elements of Jazz, Hip-hop, Broken Beat, Pop and Rock to create an exciting new art form. Shall Ark
Japan
Based in Tokyo, Naoki Pascal Morita a.k.a. Shall Ark has been actively producing music and DJing since 2002. Growing up as a teenager in the 90s, just like any other kid in Tyoko, Naoki became an avid clubber. That’s when he fell in love with dance music and decided to become a producer / songwriter. Insane idea? Not so, according to Shall Ark. He trusted his gut feeling and never let anything, not even the thought of learning to write music (from scratch) in his late teens, get in his way of becoming a latest musical export from Japan. Since then he wasted no time pursuing his dream. As a start, he signed himself up for music composition lessons with a local composer while he worked as a recording studio assistant. When he was 20 years old, he left Japan to be an apprentice for Tsuyoshi Takayanagi, a world renowned R&B / Pop producer in LA. Under Takayanagi, Shall Ark studied music history, music theory and composition. There was no question the studying experience as well as the exposure to a whole new culture in LA made a huge impact on his young life. After completing his studies in LA, he returned to Japan and was ready to write his own music. The source of Shall Ark’s inspirations often comes from movies, paintings and other forms of art. His sound slides between progressive beats and euphoric trance influenced melodies. For Shall Ark , it is all about creating music that showcases his musical experiences based on his club days in both Tokyo and living in LA. “I can’t wait to see people go wild when a DJ puts my music on. I want people to get chills when they hear my music,” says Shall Ark . It might not be long before he gets to witness people going crazy over his music on dance floor. The single, God Does Not Play Dice, was signed by Banshee Worx in the summer of 2005. Currently he is finishing up on his 4-track EP. He is also busy teaming up with local DJs and producers to participate in various music events. He is a man bound to mesmerize people with his complex mixture of electronic sounds.

Stape Mega
New Jersey
Born in the year 1975, Stape Mega hails from the city of brotherly love. He grew up in the Olney section. Taking an early interest in music, Stape listened to records in the basement of his family’s row home for hours on end. Playing the records on a classic Fisher Price toy record player. He took guitar lessons at around age 12 after convincing his mother to buy him an electric guitar and amp. The guitar was put down pretty quickly in favor of sports, specifically baseball. But he did learn some valuable lessons regarding the basics of music during those initial lessons and it served to further his interest in music later in life. Interested in keyboards and little musical toy gizmos, Stape owned several small casios over the years. He eventually took an interest in rap and electronic music in the late 80’s. Listening to anything from EPMD to New Order. Stape found electronic music technology fascinating. Intrigued by sampling and sequencing keyboards, and the use of computers to make music, he was determined to get his hands on some equipment. In 1994, Stape linked up with high school friend Digs Darklighter, an MC and graffiti artist. Digs introduced Stape to MC Adam 12, a member of Digs’ then rap group called, The Dead Pigeons. They pooled their money together and purchased some equipment. Opting to make beats with an Ensoniq EPS sampling keyboard and a sequencing program they ran on a Mac Performa, the friends quickly began to make dirty underground tracks. Around 1996, Stape formed a group with MC Adam 12, called, Dept. of Rec. In 2000, they signed to Arrakis Records, a Philadelphia based underground hip hop label. The duo released 2 Vinly EP’s and a compilation CD with Arrakis. Stape lent tracks, as well as recording and engineering skills, to some other projects for the label before it went defunct after a few years in the business. Stape most recently produced material for his old friend Digs Darklighter’s debut full length CD on the illatropolis imprint entitled, “Boomboxcutter”. Stape Mega’s style is heavily influenced by East Coast style boom bap production. He sites DJ Premeire and RZA as his main influences but finds inspiration in a multitude of musical genres and styles. His production ranges from deep and dark to mellow and entrancing. Lo-fi and dirty to clean and crisp. Stape’s production style is unique. Some of the artists Stape has worked with include: Digs Darklighter, Adam 12, Doap Nixon, The Mighty Flipside, MF Doom, Alaska of Hangar 18, Killer Rellik, DJ Cru Cut, DJ Panek (illvibe), Breez Evahflowin, Mic Stylez, Outerspace, King Syze, K-Mass, Maylay Sparks, Briz.

Vitamin D
Colorado
DJ Vitamin D — also known as Derrick Daisey — started his career in 1991 in Los Angeles at the height of the rave scene and has been taking the music scene by blah blah blah…
My god I am sick of reading this old bio. Here is the deal…
In October 2008 I was diagnosed with high frequency hearing loss. All caused by not wearing ear plugs and having the volume cranked to “8″ for the last 15+ years. Everything happens for a reason though. I enjoyed my years of djing but now it has to stop. Studio work is also put on hold until my ears heal.
Owner and operator of Cold Busted, *Cutz, and Some Cutz Up as well as a distribution company titled, Some Cutz Up Aggregation. My whole goal for these labels is to give artists their “first” break. I have been ripped off by so many labels in the past (I didn’t say all of them) and wanted to do something different. I list all my terms on the labels site and pay every quarter.
As for djing, well it just doesn’t do it for me like it used to.
