The ‘Outdoor Bits EP’ from Dpek is a four-track heavy hitting force, showcasing vivid and energetic Hip Hop and poised and sultry Downtempo. The first track ‘Dpek’s Back’ announces itself righteously with heavy drops, soulfully loud and climactic; it’s a classical inspired Hip Hop head banger. Next, ‘Sweaty Haze’ stalks smoothly in with underwater xylophone sounds, savory beats and a Latin flavored glazed goodness, horns, echoes and riveting snares, a song for the dance or a moment of bliss. Following is ‘Bearstomp’, upbeat, minimal and dark drums begin with suitable samples and street sounds then drops into a fat, heavy, active bass and at around 73bpm hybrids between Downtempo and Dubstep. Concluding the EP charmingly is ‘Growave’, which gently and properly fluctuates intelligently with relaxing and engaging beats and bright samples.
