JK Soul aka Jernej Krizman, a 25-year-old DJ and producer from Slovenia starts off proper with ‘The Beginning Of This Journey’ an impressive song that displays JK Soul’s keen turntable skills.  Clean cuts and scratching using witty samples over funky Hip Hop beats is testament to his status as ‘one of the most reputable scratch DJs in Slovenia’. ‘Strange Feelings’ utilizes smooth and tantalizing percussive sounds, high hats, calming bongo drums, and a wistful melody that make this a deep and pleasing song. ‘Too Hot’ sizzles with a Big Band Swing style, soulfully crafted with sassy trumpets layered nicely over Hip Hop beats and a female jazz singer’s sultry lyrics. ‘Down the Streetz’ keeps the heat with soulful snares and riffs, a sweet vocal loop and groove that will make your shoulders want to shake.  ‘Eternal Love’ a warm Downtempo song with xylophone sounds that will melt your ears paves the way for the home stretch. The album ends with a song remixed by Gramatik, who along with JK Soul is a part of the collective of talented DJs and producers called Nebular Muzikk.  ‘Battle of Life’ remixed by Gramatik speaks to the soul with raw beats, classy muted trumpets and a liberated saxophone, a song with feeling and emotion that hits your core.  With fresh styles, skills and influences from the roots and culture of early Hip Hop and Soul, Dinner with the Beatz Vol. 1 on Cold Busted is a highly fulfilling debut album from JK Soul.
