Gramatik – Water 4 The Soul EP (BUSTED14)

Riveting, poignant and crafted eloquently, Gramatik’s ‘Water 4 the Soul’ EP on Cold Busted is pure warmth, street style grace and creativity, truly a treat for your ears.  Not to mention that the artwork’s vintage snapshot of a sunset by the sea and silhouette is a treat for the eyes!  This eight track EP begins with ‘The Unfallen Kingdom’ that opens with a beautiful piano composition and turns into a love affair between classical elements and conscious Hip-Hop beats straight from the heart.    ‘Virtual Insight’ grooves with funky and vocal synth lines and an acid bassline that carries this tune into a futuristic vibe ushered with fresh beats.  ‘Afternoon Soul’ is a sexy downtempo piece featuring a funky melody of acoustics, swanky sax and crescendos with the high soothing pitch of a female singer harmonizing soulfully.  ‘Epic Destiny’ awes with a jazzy sax, bassline and prominent but chill snare, a track that builds and takes you on a gratifying journey of free thought and sound with wistful strings adding a polished layer.  Ending with ‘Hold On’ a lovely liberated live sounding piece with skillful drums, comforting sax and a soothing vocalist singing sunshine, overall the album makes you unwind into a pleasurable state of mind.
